Oh my goodness I just remembered something crucial. You should find someone with a T-9 like myself to let you fly around with them on their trade runs. When you are in a wing you earn a trade dividend of 5% of the total profit so with me it would be at least 22-30k per jump.

I don't remember if that is a lot of money for someone starting out but it sounds like a lot. Send me a PM if you are interested.

I started doing lots of missions when I started playing, not much trading at all, the cargo space you need for mission items is only about 4 I think.
I went Sidewinder-Viper-Cobra-Asp-T7-Python

I only started doing trades once I had my T7, although both the Cobra and Asp I've used to do the rare runs. My Viper cost fully upgraded around 4 million, the Cobra came to 9 million, the Asp is about 50 and the Python is well over 100 million and still not fully upgraded.
