should i wait?

Postby Mobius » Fri Sep 19, 2014 11:05 pm

thinking about upgrading from my gtx570 to a gtc770. im in no rush and expecting prices to drop soon with NVidia launching their new flagship card. looking at paying below £300.

don't even suggest an ATi card as they are in my opinion shit, my reason for this thinking is that when you look at any game updates they generally have some sort of ATi hotfix for some reason. very rare to see a NVidia hotfix.

Same boat here. I have a 560 Ti...I was looking at a 750 the other week and I was going to order one the following day....That night the washing machine blew up, so I had to fork out for a new one which meant no new card....I guess in a way that was a bit of luck, as I did not know about the 970/80 release.....When the price settles I might get a 970 or a 780 Ti if the price falls drastically......

Il guess you mean GTX770 :D

I prefer Nvidia cards my self. Currently running a GTX680.

Its hard to tell if you are gona upgrade. Only you can decide :)

But I can only speak for my self. Iam a tech nerd and when I upgrade anything in my comp il go for the latest no matter what it cost :D

But I think you will get a good performance boost from an 570 to an 770. And can be well worth the cost.
And with the new GTX880 the price will drop on the 770 so wait 1 or 2 month and I am sure you can get it cheaper.

Hey Mobius

Agree with you on the ATI statement.

I bought a MSI GTX780, and am very pleased. Very quite, and very fast.

GTX770 is supposedly the best bang for you buck, but now we have the 900 series. Definitely worth looking in to. Haven't checked prices, but what's the GTX970 price tag?

Fly safe, and smooth.

*Edit*

Keeping an eye on the price of this one over the coming months......

I agree with you completely about ATI versus Nvidia!

I'm using a GTX770 myself at 1920x1200x32 on a 23" display, and I'm very happy with it.

One hell of a card. If I hadn't just recently bought the GTX780, I would go for this one.

I've got my eye on a 970 I think. I'm currently running a 570 which is doing a reasonable job but is getting a bit long in the tooth. I don't think I can quite stretch to a 980, which is a shame but the 970 seems quite reasonably priced for a new generation card.
