VR for me is amazing especially playing Elite Dangerous but the total VR+PC cost is too high and 2 years in graphically disappointing a WYSIWYG experience. I going to wait for it to get there whenever that is because today I feel like I be buying it again for little gain.

Doesn't cost any more than most other higher end sim rigs.

And VR sets are far far less than a set of trippel screens. Unless you buy really cheap screens.

My options for gaming is fairly large.
Started with a trippllet set of 24" monitors.
Switched that for a 34" ultra wide that replaced all three screens.

My pc is also connected to the home theatre that has a 65" UHD tv, fully calibrated in house.
And a 100" projector.

I see no point to use any of them for playing elite, dcs or projectcars2.

Even the projector feels like watching the elite universe through a small window compared to vr.
Even if the resolution and fov is highly restricted.

I know I went in with Higher expectations but "VR" quickly moved my graphically disappointment to the WOW factor jumping down the road today I thought they have it 8 K per lens, can recall watching 65" 4K TV in Australia late 2015 (not then in Canada). I believe Japan was thinking about giving 4k a miss and jump to 8k not sure if that occurred. Yeah had the Multi Monitor triple setup then sold them cheap.

I know that I am contradicting myself when I like "VR it is a crazy madness that E:D delivers for me. Not certain if I can fly outside elite VR. I going to get my Game PC back from the kid he is playing faking Texas Hold'em that is about it, come evening he is at the Casino working. PC is i7-8700K 1080 TI with 11GB , 32MB etc, I know I can crank VR to max on that PC with no Station smoke. I do know Tor I would love to have your system.

A bit off topic.
But broadcasting networks has largely declared they wouldn't jump on 4k but gear up for 8k worldwide.

That said even the amount of native 4k content is still not large.

And as for upcoming 8k screens, 99.9% of upcoming content will be upscaled in the tv itself.

Pretty much every movie or show still recorded is post production and cgi rendered at 2k, then upsampled back to 4k for UHD bluerays.

That system sounds about identical to mine so not exactly sure what you think I have ;)

Well apart from the Virpil HOSASAT (Hands on stick and stick and throttle) :)
Worth every penny.

And of course Vr has issues, o'boy does it have issues and it will require a lot of hardware power to get anywhere near 4k per, and even a 2080ti would struggle to run games at high settings and 4k@120+ frames.

Yeah a bit off topic, forgiving people here plus you know stuff :) And you just summoned it up with broadcasting networks while I sitting using a PC expecting best GPU VR delivery and honestly it works for me would if If less.

WOW 8K TV the hockey puck is going to look amazing as will the Film Avatar.

I read this listed as Feb 2019 VR to have appears to me I may already have it.

Oculus Rift $449.00
The best VR headset today Dsplay: OLED | Resolution: 2160 x 1200 | Refresh Rate: 90Hz | Field of View: 110 degrees | Controller: Oculus Touch, Xbox One Controller | Connections: HDMI, USB2.0, USB3.0

LOL really I have a System close to yours wonder how I did that you have good shit and speaking off good shit time to go smoke some and disappear in VR E:D. I have the house alone until Monday.

Great that you enjoy working with your hardware as it helps us.

Really a 2080ti struggle to reach 4k, wow we have a ways to go and they always get there.

Thanks Tor

Mostly I just pretend to know shit.

Don't tell anyone.

It depends at what you want to do.

High fps 4k yeah it might struggle.
But they are barely starting to even make screens capable of 4k faster than 60hz.

Game consoles sure like to make a big fuss about 4k but Sony and MS think <30fps is perfectly fine.

Was at a PC/Game Box show yesterday big for our town size small compared to Vancouver, Sony was there big time as well a Rift and Vive I wasn't blown away high end price wise and hardware but low end PC. There was a line for for the console games in Vancouver last year it was bleeding outdoors trough a big mall.

I will not tell anyone it should be safe in space but I do hear strange sounds in some parts of alien space. I can't wait to see it all it is awesome what they can do and will do.

I would buy the pimax in a heartbeat but I cannot buy the RTX to run it just a tad to sweet right now . Lots of good reviews it sure looks like a next gen alien-ware very cool hope it does not take long before it arrives.

Made some changes performance forced to addressing some PC issues yesterday and today.

So this is working for me so far today, Trying some settings that I have not attempted before not much really. Using SS 1.0 attempting HDM 1.5 fiddles, so far no jitter FPS counter reports 90FPS a little lower at times. Looking very good is 1080TI VR Med tray too at 1.5
ss using Oculus Tray Tool. So far it clear especially planet side.

Did a bunch of reading and video reviews then today I bought Pimax 5k+Technology it is done all I have to do is wait for it to arrive and that should not be too long. Finally got my main game machine back from the kid now I have to work on a couple other things including a new MAN Cave house end LOL. The Rift was getting well used including in appearance. Hurry up and wait.

From most.
A 1080ti should be more than ok.

I might have dial back on a few settings perhaps and I don't expect to running max FOV.

Besides the 2080ti is from what I gather not much more than maybe 30% better.

So I'm intending to wait a cycle.
But I said that last time too...
