Experiencing stutter in Elite near stations and planets

Hi,

I recently bought a new game pc. I experience stuttering near dock / stations and also near planets (most of the time) sometimes also in deep space.

I have recorded several of these issues and merged it into one video to show. I hope someone knows a fix for this. Or perhaps this is considered "normal" I don't know.

url of video:
https://youtu.be/b9vM2reIhdQ

Specs:
GeForce GTX 1080 8 Gb GDDR5X (driver 398.36 is otherwise stable)
i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20Ghz
16 Gb RAM

Settings in Elite mostly Ultra but happens on lower settings as well, display is Borderless 3840x2160

No overclocking or anything.

Happens with and without nVidia Experience (Shadowplay)

Update:
At the time of testing Shadowplay was enabled. Although it was not installed before (and having occasional stuttering) I decided to disable shadowplay again.

Beside that, I've also noticed a lot more stuttering than usual the past 2 days. I than realized I've enabled Discord Overlay 2 days ago. It could explain why there is more stuttering, it doesn't completely explain the stuttering though but maybe influence it badly.

So, Shadowplay gone, Discord overlay off. Let's see.

Other things done:
- vsync on (without, game is not as smooth at all)
- frame limit (60Hz, Monitor is 60Hz)

For some reason, a lot of times, Geforce Experience also creates massive lag.
On a firends laptop, it ate like 15% of her CPU all the time creating similar issues.
On my end it created stuttering too (GTX1080).

Since this piece of garbage is not needed, you may as well try removing it. If it's not causing issues, well, it won't be missed anyway.

If you use Steam, disable the steam overlay, it also causes stuttering (i experienced it).

Finally, you might as well update your driver. yours is pretty old.

Thanks for taking time to reply.

GeForce Experience is disabled at the moment, not yet removed. I wonder, if there is a "Wow !" moment in Elite, or you are shot at in Mobius PG, it's so easy to have the last 5 minutes of play ready at the press of a key. Are there any other ways, to record video ? I mean, I could start OBS for recording, but I mean unprepared.

Recording Elite?? It's like recording a backyard webcam : why ? lol

I sometimes used OBS for streaming to a friend. never caused any slowdown

I've got a folder full of ED video clips. Winged bounty hunting sessions with epic kills, or epic 'oops' moments, dropping into black holes, landing on Mitterand Hollow, canyon racing in SLF's, flying SRV's off of geysers, the list goes on and on. Fun stuff.

Yes I do too which is why I eventually will restore ShadowPlay and Nvidia Experience.

The heaviest of stuttering is no more. I do still experience a sort of UI glitch when I'm near certain places which seems more game related.

I have created a Powershell script that stops Windows services I don't need while playing and also stops certain processes.

It also gives Discord BelowNormal cpu and temporarily stops Windows Defender.

Ah and to make it even better it shows a menu which (alt) account I'd like to launch in Elite.

The current edition of PC Pro (January 2019) has a review of anti-virus software packages. Its summary of Windows Defender: "Windows' built-in protection is both the least accurate on test and the most performance sucking."

lol, of course it is! I changed to Windows AV because I was advised to, as this was the most 'light weight' anti virus already included in Windows 10.

It was supposed to be much more lightweight than Avast which I used before that. Which I started using btw, because I read it was much more lightweight than AVG which I was using before that, and started using because it was much more lightweight than McAfee, which I started using because why on earth would you use Norton AV, it hogs your system...

- True story.

With defender it's a good idea to add the various game folders to the folder exclusion list in defender settings, this will stop the real time scanning for these files while they are running saving a lot of resources, especially on load.

Some games, especially unreal games load 3x faster when not hampered by this.

Also, Geforce experience and shadowplay is pure cancer, get rid of it, if you must you are better off using OBS.
If need be I can launch and start\stop recording using OBS from voice attack commands alone.
