Warthog Problem

Postby Cmdr Kharma » Thu Jan 18, 2018 7:08 pm

Thought I would post this....Just incase someone wants to see inside the joystick......

My 4 way + Push button has gawn tits up on one axis......I use this button for menu navigation and it was the down axis....

Putupable with in station menus as I can use the mouse......But a complete pain in the arse for ship panels....

This is why I have not been playing....Pisses me off no end.

Anyway I've mailed Thrustmaster about a week ago enquiring about a new switch, but as yet no reply......

Anyway this is the button I'm on about....The grey one.....

Now to look at how it comes apart.......

This circlip will have to come off as the bar for the pinky switch spans both halves of the stick.....

► Show Spoiler

And 4 hex bolts on the top......2.5mm by the way......

► Show Spoiler

Continued in next post due to picture limit.....

Tor.....Hold on.......Tor.......Wait a bit.....TOR will you stop fecking firing.......Ok......Tor I know a therapist that can help you....... :D My Cmdr also has small feet

Remove the circlip and take the pinky switch off.....

► Show Spoiler

4 side bolts and 2 bottom ones out and halves seperated......This is what it look like inside......

► Show Spoiler

And where is the dodgy switch......Yep right under the bloody pcb....With what looks like hot glue blobs....Probably to stop it rotating....

► Show Spoiler

Now this is going to be a nightmare as the cable ties will have to be cut and all the connections removed from the PCB just to get at the thing.....Gawd knows how it comes out......

If I cannot get a direct replacement it is going to be an even bigger nightmare trying to jury rig something in there that works.....

I did have a quick glance at joystick navigation switches.....And beleive me it was a very quick glance.....

Ranging from £120-£437....I keed you not........

I have just got a couple of 4 way + push 10mm tactile switches....but how to mount them I have not got a clue yet.....

Mucho thinking required......

Oh and Thrustmaster must have sensed I'm writing this.......Inbox has just gone ping with an email from them.....

Now lets see what they say.....

Toodily pip......

*Edit*

They don't want much.......

Video of the problem with windows controller settings in the background.......

Photo of serial number.....

Photo of invoice.......

Name.....Address and Telephone Number.....

What I had for dinner......

And the length of my penis..........

Ok I made the last two up........

:D

Guess what I'll be doing tonight.......

Dunno, but will it involve Max Thrust's joystick or yours?

Seriously, good luck.

Ordering
https://www.amazon.co.uk/CH-Products-20 ... ro+fighter
Instead ?

Identical button layout, granted missing the lever over the pinky, and has slightly less resolution in the sensors.
But it is light as fooking feather.

The kind of plastic that could survive a belted tank driving over it.
