I too have a mini keyboard, but often the spot between the sticks is taken.

Just because I need to be different. I went with the CH pro setup, so Fhighterstick, Pro-throttle and pedals.

Just know the full set is comparable to a warthog WITH pedals so it's not cheap and it looks like something from late 80's.

But they work, I have had mine for two years and playing Elite for several hours a day they haven't lost a step.
No major driver issues either.

The throttle is from an X-56 Hotas.

It is actually not ideal.
The throttles themselves are about 15% too large. Hard to reach the thumb controls and the controls for the other fingers at the same time.
The little analog stick under the thumb has a push button in addition to the stick axis, totally useless.
The inner toggles up the side are hard to get at without touching something else with the throttle in various positions.
Mostly, it is just too large, takes up to much real estate.
Texting + Anything Else = Texting

The something else always gets broken!

I use a Targus brand compact keyboard as it fits nicely between the throttle and stick of my X-52 that I've got mounted on the edge of my desk.
I've no real issues with just having the one keyboard, the lack of a dedicated num pad isn't much of an issue for me.

Could not give up my Steelseries gaming key boards. We have had them for years, on our third or forth set.
Our desks have shelves, so the keyboards are tucked away.
