That got me laughing.

Yeah, nvidia founder edition stuff is usually not that easy to get hold right away, and as soon you can.
Then that's about the same time the third party manufacturers put their improved coolers on and jack up the frequencies.

I'm not really that much fan of the factory over clocks, but the improved coolers are nice.

Might wait a while longer for the dust to settle and recalls to happen. It's not a Windows scheduler problem, even AMD admits that. There may be something more at play here.

Hmmm......Even Microsoft thought it might be a problem with the 10 scheduler........

But picture paints a thousand words........

Yeah, its interesting to see if Amd and Co gets it sorted.

Even if they don't, ryzen is a great leap from Amd's last gen, and yeah maybe Intel is a touch better still. Hardly suprisingly their budget and manpower are many fold that of amd.

And honestly, who cares if i7 7700 gets 233 fps in game x and ryzen gets the 227 fps.

Even the fastest TFT lcd displays can't shift pixels nearly that fast.
Even Oled struggles to keep up with 90hz refreshes
A three-chip DLP projector might get close.

Been doing a little bit of googling, slash thinking.
And no, not drinking. Well apart from coffee.

As has been made evident I have been drooling over the 1080ti.
But unlike Kharma I'm sitting on a rather capable rig, that I just put a new i7 cpu into to boot.

All sense tells me to wait.
But more performance in vr is a concept that kind of makes me loose most of my marbles.

Anyhoo, I just have had this niggling feeling that Nvidia has been pushing Pascal gpu's.
Understandable since Pascal has been absolutely brilliant.
But I just have the notion they are trying to push the most profit possible, as if they knew they had something good enough in the wings that would make everyone give them their money all over again.
But taking nvidia's own Road map.
Image
And if this is even just broadstrokes, the performance jump from Pascal to Volta is almost equivalent to the jump between Pascal and Kepler (the 780 series of gpu's) and that is, mildly put, quite noteworthy. And the chip ID for upcoming Volta is already in the nvidia drivers.
I would hardly expect they have them further than internal testing of the chips yet.
And by most guesses Nvidia will soon launch another iteration of Pascal based Gpu's with gddrx5 RAM as the main tag line, and probably a new based clock.
I however wouldn't expect any of these cards to outperform the 1080ti.
I would actually expect 1080ti to be sort of the flagship performer of the second iteration of Pascal gpu's

It would make financial and marketing sense for nvidia to keep pushing Pascal through the year under the 1100 series moniker.

Even though Volta might just be 12-14 months away, that is plenty of time to push an updated Pascal, and AMD is about to launch their reply to Pascal this summer, so an update wouldn't go amiss.

But I'm honestly not really hyped about Vega, so far what I have seen is an AMD tech showing a 15 seconds clip of Vega running doom @4k, and even this highly edited youtube video performance varied with at least 10fps. Sure it didn't go below 65, but from a gamer point of view, a frequent 10 fps variation is highly noticeable and feel quite jerky.
Seems almost AMD is happy marketing themselves as "almost as good as intel/nvidia".

Anyhoo, my thoughts of this mornings sensible fit.

Is for me or probably anyone who is on a high end Kepler or Pascal gpu, hang in there and maybe prepare for Volta sometime in the middle of 2018.

I should probably just start saving now.
Last shopping cart I looked at was almost at the three grand mark...

And all because of this singular game...

I do not think I will wait that long. I have already an i7-4790 with 980Ti but I am itching for the 1080Ti. Just the 1080 Ti.
