Think I read somewhere that AMD actually set 0c to read +20. So it would read closer to their former generation or something.

Utter idiocy if true.

Will prob be the weekend......

Win 10 install was a nightmare.......

It somehow split it across the M2 and a hard drive.....

And would not boot unless I had the DVD in the drive.......

Just sorted that out.......With a few shenanigans and a reinstall......

Just updating again.....Then classic shell is going on.....

Over 200 native uEFI/GPT installs over 5 years ... 0 issues

Part of the reason I don't have a 2nd drive inserted when I install any Windows OS, especially with native uEFI/GPT storage boot. I have ...
- Only the "first fixed disk"(aka C:) drive installed
- - This solves the common "Windows setup the other disk with the EFI System Partition (ESP) and set the EFI firmware to use it" issue
- - Remember, with native uEFI/GPT boot, the firmware -- not the first disk -- is what 'targets' what boot loader and OS boots (out of the ESP)
- My "first fixed disk" has always been SSD since 2012
- Same disk has always been uEFI/GPT since 2012 -- even for Windows 7 x64 (I first went uEFI/GPT in 2010)
- It's always been installed via a Rufus prepared USB Windows installer that is guaranteed to be GPT formatted
- - FAT formatted USB Windows installer, such as what the Windows USB creator often does, causes issues with native uEFI/GPT install
- - This also addresses the common "have to have the USB (or DVD) inserted" boot issue, among other things
- It's always had its first 0.5GiB pre-allocated** as ...
- - 1-384MiB (383MiB) FAT32 formatted EFI System Partition (ESP)
- - 384-512MiB (128MiB) Windows Reserved Partition (required for all uEFI/GPT systems, don't listen to anyone who says its not)

**NOTE: I use parted under a Live Linux USB boot to pre-allocate the disk

Once Windows is up, booted and running fine ... only then do I add any "additional fixed disks."

I've had 0 issues out of over 200 installs, including most of them being dual-boots with Linux. I also like to use The rEFInd Boot Manager as my multi-boot menu in the ESP (so only that entry needs to set in the firmware), which also can boot the EFIShell, Diag, Memtest and other utilities, but I personally know the author, so I'm biased.

Or engineering testing requirements to ensure adequate thermal dissipation with existing cooling solutions.

At least AMD makes things backward compatible in its voltage regulation, thermal interfaces and other controls. Intel is notorious for even requiring completely new mainboards and component designs.

That's part of why AMD has to do things like this, so existing solutions work.

Whereas "Chipzilla" can get away with "you must buy all new stuff, throw out your existing stock, or sell it off cheap," to distributors, OEMs and ODMs.

Glad to hear the set-up is going well, sad to hear about the co-pilot :(

Aye.
Probably looking at a similar situation here as well.
Last year he has basically lost his ability to jump, hind legs seems weak in general.

And now his eating habits has changed.
He basically only wants the good stuff.
Should get him to the vet. Asap.

But fear it might be a return trip for only half of us.

That said. He is by far not my first cat or pet.
Must have had near a dozen cats, half a dozen dogs. Even a couple of parrots at some point.
We even semi domesticated a thrush that fell out of a nest once.
I would rather have it quick and painless than having him disappear outside or having him kick it here.

When I first got him I figured I'd have him for maybe four years or so.
That was 11 years ago. And he was 5-7 years old when I got him.

Dunno what I will do after though.
Bawl for a week I suppose.
