I just deleted it. Prefer to do Manual driver updates anyways.

The recording features pull to much resource on my old PC.

When I went to open the GeForce Experience it forced me to upgrade to version 3. It then crashed. So I un-installed the whole lot, got the manual driver download, and didn't re-install GeForce Experience, just the drivers. I'm not logging in to use features I paid for, screw that.

Okay.... I've been using the 369.09 drivers because the ones available that are newer were causing lockups when I'd use the Vive and E-D. My version of GEForce Experience is 2.11.41, which I assume came with the 369.09 drivers since I typically update them at the same time.

A few months back I set GEForce Experience for manual updates.

After this message thread was started, I noticed that if I launched the GEForce Experience, I got the Windows pop-up for "this program wants to make changes to your computer.... yata yata yata" which it didn't used to do. So, I declined and didn't use GEForce Experience until today.

I decided to let it run (not update, just load) this morning and approved the windows notification box. I got an Nvidea splash screen as it downloaded updates. I waited nervously to see what would happen. It was a quick update and my GEForce Experience screen came up like usual, except now it has a 'log in' tab. I was able to start ShadowPlay, and it's working normally. I have not touched the 'log in' tab yet and don't see a reason to do so.

I wonder that if a guy didn't have the auto updates turned off he could download an old driver set, install and set for manual updates, and be okay.

So far so good with mine, and I'm able to use ShadowPlay again. :)

I thought one had to log in to use that?

Out of memory errors ...

Postby thebs » Sat Sep 17, 2016 5:24 pm

Okay, I've now had no less than 2 out-of-memory errors at inopportune times with my Oculus Rift. I want to roll back the nVidia drivers to confirm it's not the nVidia drivers.

Any recommendations?

BTW, I already uninstalled the GeForce Experience. I never upgraded to v3, but I am on 3.72.70 nVidia drivers.

EDIT: Rolled back to 365.19. We'll see how it goes.

I'm running 372.70 drivers without issue (GTX 980 and the Vive)
GeForce experience downgraded to 2.11.4.0, and that is where it will stay for a while.

It is v3 of GeForce experience with the mandatory login, and shadowplay online only 'features'0

The drivers can at the moment be updated separately to the GeForce experience software - all I want is shadowplay from it really, although driver update notifications are handy

Since clearing out C:\ProgramData\NVidia\GeForce\Updates it has not tried to upgrade again yet.

I haven't logged in, and I've recorded both ways (buffer and toggle) with Shadowplay and it's working fine. :D

I stopped using G.E. when I went VR. Is Shadow Play working with VR now?
It's time to give this another go.

TorTorden wrote:Open broadcaster can of course be setup to straight record, stream and or the classic shadow play feature of recording the game so you can get recording of x past minutes.
All to be setup with varying key strokes and controlled by macro's or voice attack or however you prefer.

My i5 was fine for 1080p but after going ultra wide or vr it can't honestly keep up.

I did not find a way to record only the last 5 minutes with OBS studio, is that function only in the classic version?
And if you have performance hits from OBS, are you using a software encoder or the NVENC hardware encoder which should take the load off the CPU and let the GPU do the heavy lifting?
I play on PC, in the Mobius PVE Eurasia group.

Well I took the plunge and opened GFE and it immediately tried to upgrade. It proceeded to remove the old version then failed on the install of version 3. I then downloaded the version from the website and that installed version 3. Once installed you could do nothing without setting up an account still so they are not changing their minds about forcing you to register before you can use it.
So after a spot of googling... Here is how to remain on version 2.4 for the time being and stop the upgrades. Linky

For those that don't want to trawl through the forums on that link..
One thing i will add, there is no link in the thread for an install of 2.4 but I found it here. GFE 2.4

How to solve all problems with the new and improved GeForce Experience 3.0 in 6 easy steps:
1st. unistal GeForce Experience 3.0
2nd. instal GeForce Experience 2.4
3rd. when you click and this appears http://i.imgur.com/hcOBJOM.png
click here http://i.imgur.com/2QvPumJ.png on GeForce Experience again http://i.imgur.com/WkCtljv.png and then you will actually open GeForce Experience 2.4 then press cancel on http://i.imgur.com/hcOBJOM.png
4rd. then start ShadowPlay , you can also now use normally the led visualizer
5th.to skip the need of doing 3rd step every time you open GeForce Experience , go to "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\GeForce Experience" and delete the folder named "Update" and it will stop this http://i.imgur.com/hcOBJOM.png ,the update from appearing
6th.BE HAPPY

Second solution:
Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\NetService" and delete NVNetworkServiceAPI.dll and NvNetworkService.exe ,beware if you do you will expirience this(http://i.imgur.com/H2rSWgd.png) message every time you open GeForce Experience -credit to "Primey(https://forums.geforce.com/member/2026961/)"

If you still have problems
1st. Go to "http://www.geforce.com/drivers" chose your "grapic card series" next model ,operating sistem and type(32bit or 64bit), to find what operating sistem you have try to open "C:\Program Files (x86)" if it opens you have a 64bit system if it doesn't 32bit, now download a driver "i recomend 372.54 or older version"
2nd. open the downloaded file next this(http://i.imgur.com/GtJs3ov.png) will apear click "agree and continue"
then click on custo and press next(http://i.imgur.com/mvoSFVL.png) then tick off(http://i.imgur.com/USZeIoW.png) "perform a clean instalation" then pres next after all is over do the 5th step of "the 6 easy steps" from above if problem persist try older driver ,if it still presit reinstall windows or send your pc,laptop for Repairs

P.S. if you instal the whole driver you have to wait for GeForce Experience to download the update then you can delete it
to all uncheck "automatic download driver and let me choose when to install them","GeForce Experience" and "GeForce driver" like that http://i.imgur.com/Phlpbyu.png so not to have problems in the near future.

Hope this helps people.
