2. TrackHat has Z axis. I can lean in and out. EDTracker can't do that

About a month ago I discovered the Track Hat website. I went down to my local Radio Shack and bought 3 IR LEDs. Stopped by Gamestop and got a used ps3 camera. You have to remove the IR filter. With some measurements I found online I designed and 3d printed my own tracking clip that attaches to my headphones and am powering it with some very light lipo batteries I have laying around for micro quads. I also printed a lens cover for the camera that holds a piece of 3.5" floppy media that acts as a visible light filter.

Camera and LEDs came to around $20 USD, and everything else I already had. It works great!

Right On Commander! Nicely done. I sadly had to return my Trackhat cap. I've got a HTPC setup, and the distance between camera and cap (2.5 m) coupled with general lighting/reflections in my living room made the tracking unstable. But I really liked the quality and functionality of it.

Well that sucks. At least you got a chance to try it.

Yeah. EDTracker has a wireless version in the pipeline, but can't confirm a date, and why settle with headtracking when you can have 1:1 scale immersion, so I'm back to hovering over the Vive buy button...

Why? Why you ask? Cash. Quid. Moola. Bucks. Even if the Wireless EDTracker is Double or triple the price of the current Pro (which i have, love, and never play without) it is still a damn site cheaper. Especially if your box is not up to snuff and you have to upgrade other things.
