Yes, I have. It is the one I mentioned(not by name) in an earlier post and it did help me. Like I said though, I will keep plugging on and get it done eventually :)

That's the spirit! Never let a computer decide what you do or don't! :)

It isn't so much the computer more the Mad Katz software but yes, I agree completely :)

Don't know if this will help any, but I originally downloaded the ready made profiles - specifically the one for X3 and modified it. Just to get the feel of how it works.

Since then I've made a new profile from scratch. I don't seem to remember changing all that much from the default settings, just mapped a few extra keys to buttons.

The setup in ED is much better than the X games, so all my deadzones and axis are setup in ED.

I think I will start a new profile from scratch, I have plenty of time to do so since I really cannot work up much enthusiasm to play knowing that any gains will be lost again on the 16th Dec. :(

Thank you to everyone who has offered advice. :)

Just seen this thread.

I have an X55 and had real trouble getting a good mapping that I was happy with. I adapted the standard X55 profile changing quite a few things but was eventually fairly happy with it.

I then tried out and purchased Voice Attack. I spent an initial few hours rebinding keys to various actions and now don't have as much need for all the zillions of switches and frilly bits of the X55.

This has certainly made the Cobra easier to control as I don't have to move my hands from the throttle to change things or raise my gear. There's even a nifty voice command to request docking clearance in one go!!!

I might even adapt my profile to a gamepad to see if I can fly reasonably well on it so I can take Elite away for Christmas! I have also considered dusting off my Thrustmaster Hotas X as it wouldn't now be as handicapped now with the lack of switches/buttons.

How does it work? I assumed that Voice Attack allowed to trigger hot keys and that kind of things, but there is no hot key for requesting docking.

On my VA profile, I have 2 commands for docking.
1 - Request Docking.
2 - Request again ( if denied 1st time )

I have assigned a key to select the Left hand panel, so I basically instruct VA to press the keys that I would do manually to request docking.
In between each key press, Ive added a pause of 0.2 seconds - because it presses them to fast to register.
I would upload my profile for it ... but don't know where to store it.
Hope that helps a bit.

Ah ha ... just found a way. I'll try post it shortly

Try this Flip ... you'll have to download the file, then import it to VA.
There are only 2 commands on there, but if you go into it and look at the commands, you will get the idea.

Most important thing is to make sure your key bindings are correct. Once they map up with the VA profile you're laughing. Somehow my X55 profile lost all its keymaps :(
