I've had my X-55 nearly a year now.

The main thumb button, and the up and down on the castle hat don't give as much tactile feedback anymore... there's no snap or bump to them, but after the way I've spammed mission boards with them I can forgive that, and they still function. The X axis on the joystick is a little loose close in to the center... it wiggles a few millimeters, but well within a fairly standard deadzone setting.

After hundreds of hour of use it definitely feels very broken-in, but it still functions 100%. Do I just have a unicorn? If I have this kind of luck, why am I single, and not able to print money in a Vegas casino? :-D

The main problem with the X-55 (and probably the X-56) is the wiring inside the throttle. The wires always bend and unbend at the same exact place when you move the throttle, so after some time they break due to metal fatigue. Use it a few hours every day, and they’ll break before it’s out of warranty (happened twice to me).

No issues with the throttle so far. I wouldn't mind if they would improve the tension on it (it slips a bit with quick movements), and make the throttle lock much more secure, but other than that, it's been wonderful after hundreds of hours.

It’s not the throttle that fails, then. It’s the buttons, hats and pots that are on it.

Since i don’t want to be without a controller for weeks, I’ve started using the pedals of my Thrusmaster T500RS for the yaw. Will take a bit to get used to, but then, I’ll be able to definitively get rid of saitek’s shits.

My X-56 Throttle is nearly "broken in" now. I'm now starting to remember my X-55 wasn't that much different, after initially believing otherwise.

The X-55 is going back tomorrow. So I should have a backup X-56 in exchange.

just picked mine up today. (happy b-day to me) but i'm having 1 issue with it. overall things are working to a point. however i'm having issues with the mini-analogue stick on the flight stick. the x56 keymap ingame has this set to head look. problem is, it's constantly registering input to look up.(down if set to inverted) before i start changing buttons, do any other x56 users know a fix for this? :?

**edit**
solved

caused by a dirty contact on the flight stick pins. wiped clean and up for business.

Well, after the yaw, now the stick of the X-56 has lost the pitch and the roll. They worked yesterday and today they don’t anymore. Fuck Saitek. I won’t even bother sending it back. I’m getting a Warthog. Never got any problem with Thrustmaster’s products.

Well the X-55 has finally gone the way of so many, one of the throttle buttons doesn't work when the throttle is back, and when it is fully forward many strange things happen.

Anyway, back it goes too be replaced with an X-56, let's hope it's not a dog.

In the meantime it's back to the HOTAS-X
