My HUD refuses to change color

Postby HAMM3R » Sat Mar 12, 2016 10:08 am

Thought I'd switch from the green I've had for quite some time but the HUD colors just won't change :(

I switched to 64-bit version couple of weeks back and noticing there are now folders for both 32- and 64-bit versions I wen't ahead and updated the 64-bit gfx config file with my green hud before launching the game to get it from the get go. And since it turned out green I assumed that did the trick.

But now as I tried to change it again, it simply won't change. It's the same old green everytime I launch the game, regardless of the color values in the file. I even changed the 32-bit config file as well thinking if the game is reading that for some weird reason but as expected, it had no effect.

Are you using the regular GraphicsConfiguration.xml or the GraphicsConigurationLocal.xml? The local file has stopped working for me both for the GraphicsConfiguration and the AppConfig files.

I have resorted to using the EDConfig program to do the changes.

When I tried playing with my HUD colours I had a bug where the hud simply went black.
Made the game rather unplayable, and this bug was pervasive. I even redownloaded the entire game and they HUD remained black.

It didn't get back to normal until I deleted the windows cache folder for Frontier Developments.

in

Code: Select all

%appdata%\..\local\

Make sure you backup bindings and whatnot beforehand in.

Code: Select all

%appdata%\..\local\frontier developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

EDConfig does binding backups as well.

Mine is defined in:

Code: Select all

%appdata%\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml

It was indeed the GraphicsConfigurationOverride file doing it's thing.

Silly me, I had totally forgot about the file and that I had set my green HUD colors there to prevent updates overriding them.
