Mine is an older GTX 650. May have to wait till I replace the beast to really get into it. I have Shadowplay but as of yet found no reason to have it running. I run Borderless, which means I have to set it to capture the Desktop in order to get it to record the game. Which Sucks.

Yeah same here, one of the reasons Im testing OBS, it gives some more control in these cases, although I still think it records all audio playing, was hoping to find a way that you could filter that down to ED, TS and my mic and disregard browsers (Netflix) or tidal.
Using the desktop mode you tend to grab everything and somehow your close shave or awesome moves gets a little less awesome when you hear a sitcom in the background or youtubes strictness on copyrights when music playing.

Or it also includes a shot of you switching to answer a Porn Spam Call on Skype/Whatsapp/Viber ;)

That's something OBS would/could filter out, you set it to only record the games window, not even your desktop mouse cursor would get picked up.

Has OBS less overhead than Shadowplay?

Shadowplay doesn't seem to want to record from a fullscreen window for me so I have to go with something else. OBS seems to work really well :)

I use OBS for streaming and recording, I think its great and if you look at the source on github, it has healthy dev activity.

A friend of mine switched from shadowplay to OBS, many due to shadowplay bugs (his words)

I also use an SSD to record to, for the throughput to obtain high quality 1200p@60fps.
My thoughs on SSDs are by the time i break one through wear, huge SSDs with significantly higher endurance will be available at low prices.... just look into what will be available in the next couple of years.
That said I only use SSDs 240GB and up, heavy recording to a 60GB SSD could break it rather soon due to low endurance.

Edit: A samsung 16TB 2.5" ssd shown in aug: http://blog.parts-people.com/2015/08/24 ... solutions/
forget todays price tag, others such as intel with micron are not far behind and so in a couple of years a 4TB ssd might be very well priced when compared to today

Well. I can specify somewhat more, I meant by my "don't save to ssd" warning I mean don't save to the same SSD as your OS is running on. If you have a dedicated SSD drive then that's a completely different thing, and obviously the preferred storage medium.
As for breaking SSD's, well that's what warranties are for :P

Shawdow play is a bummer in that it doesn't support surround nor borderless window. Can anyone give examples of their FPS hit running OBS in ED?

Gotta chip in with a quick thumbs-up for 'D3DGear', which I've only just started using after trying OBS.

- All I can say about performance is that I can't tell when it's running or not!

Hello,
This is just the thread I've been looking for. I'm trying to do some After Action Review stuff so that I can learn from my mistakes and take note of my successes. Will try out Shadowplay since I have a GTX960. But my CPU is an old i7-950, so I hope it does not hit my FPS too much.

Thanks and regards.
