Game pad, Flight stick, which is better??

Postby luv4skating » Tue May 22, 2018 2:40 pm

I’m using an Xbox game pad for PC, but need to know which controller is best for this game between the Xbox for PC, Xbox Elite, or a Flight Stick?

I can personally vouch for this this stick/throttle combination, it's not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. Lots of buttons to customize your functions to best fit your style. I'd say it trumps the gamepad for functionality.

I would have to agree. Flight sticks are the way to go with Elite: Dangerous. For me, it’s much more immersive and there are more buttons for customizing your play style. I use the Saitek X52 personally, which I’ve read is what they based what you see your pilot using in flight. It really helps me when I’m playing in VR (which is always now; once you go VR, it’s hard to go back) so that when I’m looking at my flight stick in VR, I can visualize the buttons on my flight stick that much better.

Flight stick.
Hands down.

Even the worst, flight stick is 10x as accurate than an game pad.
Xbox or otherwise.

Honestly you are better off with keyboard and mouse than a game pad.

Game pad require so much hokey pokey input wise, without it becomes unusable garbage.
for starters, large center deadzone, followed by a curve ramp so you actually get max output.

In short, there is a reason why so many games only have a character stand still, barely walk and normal walk.
And hold a button to run.

One Rift senors

Postby tinnitus » Fri May 25, 2018 4:06 pm

Only playing Elite these days with the rift with one sensor but do not use the touch controllers. HOTAS flight controllers works fine as does one sensor. Look behind and all around no problem. All from seated position sensor points downward attached to ceiling with a camera pole at about a 45 degree angle. Tracking appears to be working fine facing the sensor. Now have 2 free USB ports plus I do not hear in game the audio-tone when a USB device connects/disconnects.
