Vette help.

Between reformatting and getting sucked in to Wildlands and Origins I have not been on the game for more than an hour over the last month or so. So I am curious about changes, if any, to shields. Also would love some tips.

I defected to the Empire (bleh) in order to be where I am at now, at the cusp of installing a prismatic shield. Now on my cutter I am only doing a 5A as it is a trade cutter. Really not going to lose cargo space going up higher, may scrap the idea all together. But as the title implies, the real help is for The Paladin. I have a feeling I am going to have to rework my boosters and may have to rethink even the mod to new shields as well. I would appreciate any help you guys can give me to ease me back in to the game lol.

Now my current build, a strictly PvE Vette is sitting with 4 0A Grade 5 Heavy Duty boosters and a 7A Grade 5 Re-enforced gen, numbers will be below. My shields never drop even in high CZs and I rarely get down to 1 ring using 2 (not at once) 7A SCBs. What if anything would you guys recommend for a prismatic build? Thank you in advance for at least reading this and any help you can provide for a returning commander.

Go light weight hull (and indeed everything. Over 50% of my module slots are not used in CZ) and see how she 'dances'!

Ok my reasons for bi-weave are as following.

Significant less power, so more headroom for GUNS !
Significantly less weight, more manoeuvrability, more time on target, higher effective DPS.

Recharge over buffer and MJ hardness, in other words resists.
With prismatics, sure the shields soaked a lot of damage but the regen is so absolute crap I found myself running with at least two class 7 SCB banks, and several heatsinks just so the banks won't kill me.

With bi-weaves and resists up, thermal on generator, and mix of thermal, kin on the boosters and a few boosters for straight up boost mod.
You get at least 1500mj.
A class 7 SCB has about 800MJ in it so you still wouldn't waste one, and if you deploy an scb at 1\3 shield strenght it boosts you straight up to 100% almost.

But with bi-weaves your regen is so fast that you often get back the 50% of shields you loose in a decent fight while finding the next one.
I went from running the heavy prisms, with no kw scanner cause I need the HS's, to only needing one heatsink and one scb for emergencies, and I have gained so much confidence in my shields I have dropped the mil spec armour.

Only need the scb now if I end up pissing off three wings of three or something or get a full CZ of reds on me is when I need the scb's now.

A dead npc can't shoot your shields no matter what and in the short of it, with the room a lighter, less power hungry build get you is more speed so you kill faster and have room for more power hungry guns so you hit harder.
In fact running prisms on a ship pre req's the grade 5 power mod on the reactor and it's still tight.
