HUGE Problem--need help!

My sensors are inactive and so I can't detect anything or contact any station to land. I opened the right side pannel and the active/inactive button there is a slash through it. I cannot turn it on or off--there doesn't seem to be anything wrong otherwise. What can I do--the game can't be played like this and there is seemingly no solution. PLEASE HELP!!!
