I agree with everyone else, raise a ticket. The support team are pretty good.

As Tor said there is something not right with the RNG. Some people just cannot find certain commodities. I, for example, cannot have any interactions with the Thargoids even though I'm probably over 500 jumps in the right area.
Which is surprising from such a well polished, bug free game.... /sarcasm

You can improve your combat rank easy by hireing as a crew member on other players vessel. And fighting in the conflict zone with my ASP Explorer is not that hard:

Hmmm.. competent.. expert... either you've been very lucky to find average level opponents or i am indeed unlucky with my conflict zone experience.
No matter what level CZ it is, i always low wake in the middle of elite and deadly ships, the whole bunch :/

It always looked like that :
-Low wake and boost away
-Chose faction
-Rebuy

No need to say i simply stay away from massacre missions or anything involving CZ.. ^^'

.
Just a suggestion Gents..

If you want to go in to a CZ but you're getting beaten to a pulp.. Wing up together and try to draw out the targets on the outskirts of the skirmish so you don't get inundated... (Wow - that sounded good.. :D )

Now, what did it mean..? :P

I didn't have the Courrier during my last try, i should test with thus one since i have pretty good speed to gtfo.
Basically i always start with the weakest ship once its a bit isolated and go from there. But once i have more than one ship on me i am toast.
I tried with a vulture, cobra mk3 and DBx.
It was before i started torturing myself with engineers (i started going to their casinos only recently) so all these ships were slow and not that powerful against even an elite eagle..

Still.. i wonder why i always have such high rank opponents when i was only competent.
I feel like These are strictly like other mmo's group instances.. not meant to be played solo if you want to survive more than 10s, unless you are already on the top levels.

I agree a support ticket is in order.

That said, aside from powerplay this can happen if he has something in his ship's cargo hold pirates want, or a mission which another faction is trying to stop him from completing (or a bounty on his head)

Have him check his inventory and transactions to see if it's one of those three things.

If not, he could just submit to the pirates who should leave him alone after they scan him and find nothing in his ship. This might be best done in a cheap sidewinder.
