Ship help for a little newbie

Postby Esekil » Sat Dec 10, 2016 2:44 pm

Good day. I had a few questions. I now ffflew a cobra MKIV. I like this iron like ship (wish it had a coalengine and a huge black cloud behind). But i dont know which ship buy next. As i understand Vulture is fighter-only. And i want something multirole. Any suggestions?

Next natural step is honestly the asp explorer, but you should be looking at at least 12-20 mil before making that move.

There is also no rush getting out of a Cobra.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

beams and multi cannons is a great combo. If you're having trouble hitting the target though, you may want to try gimballed instead of fixed. Fixed pack a bigger punch, but if you're like me and have trouble hitting the target.... it doesn't really matter how hard the weapon hits.

The Cobra is a great multi-roll ship. As Tor mentioned, the 'next level up' multi-roll ship is the Asp X. The Cobra is great at running missions, carrying a good amount of cargo, and pretty solid in combat. I'd recommend sticking with it for a while as you build your bank account and upgrade the Cobra's capabilities.

Meh,
Can't really loose money in this game.

At worst a rebuy or two. Or ten percent loss on reselling the ship.
Any modules you get 100% refund on, so really an aspx only costs about 600 k.

While you're saving for the Asp, have you looked at the Diamondback Explorer? Since you don't like the Cobra, it might be something worth trying. Also, have you looked at the Cobra 3? I use one as a smuggler. Very fast little ship, with lots of cargo capability. 8-)

Diamondback... Maybe maybe. I looked on it. But now just think ahead. Coriolis said about Asp - 28 mils (in good shape). And i want to cry in a dark))

Don't have to A rate everything.
Something like this wouldn't be a total deathtrap, but might keep it out of conflict zones and haz res's.
