Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

So i got interdicted while doing some bounty hunting, which is just convenient. Scanned the guy, wanted, great. He shot first, went red, so i just aligned my guns and fired... and then i got a bounty.
I should've just high waked out of there, but i decided to finish him off since he was wanted. Surprise surprise, bounty gained for murder. What the hell happened? I'm 100% sure he was wanted since i scanned him, and he shot first, why the hell did i get a bounty for returning fire?

Sounds like a bug, it happens from time to time.

Happened to me twice so far........

Me iz a murderer......

Well that sucks.
Had to stop by a station and tickle it with my laser to clear the bounty. I'd rather pay the insurace than wait 3 days before being able to go to that system.

Also, it wasn't the first time either, but the last time that happened i was smarter and just warped out, then waited for the bounty to cool down.

7 days.......

I have been waiting a week for my bug to bug out and I didn't even shoot anyone

yep happened to me too best thing to do is watch if police attack first then you know it's ok to blow them up if not just run away if u don't carry any goods they generally leave u alone u don't say if u were scanned and u might be carrying illegal goods ? or am I missing something

When it happened to me, I went into the station to check contacts and found nothing on the board so I left the station and got attacked by security after a scan... jumped out no problem through. After landing at the next station, the bounty had converted to a legacy fine so I paid it and all was well.
