Time to big each other up I feel.

Amongst the obvious disappointment (I'm on a bit of a downer too), of the no offline mode issue I'd just like to say this:

These Forums have been an eye opener for me. Being new to online PC gaming (Elite BBC Micro 1984 then a boring journey into 'real life' until recently), I have enjoyed the discussions here. They have been:

Fun

Informative

Laughable for the hell of it

Non mocking

Supportive to users with less experience, like myself, and never patronising.

Interesting

And all things positive.

I hope my fellow Commanders all the best, and wish to meet them out there in The Milky Way, and maybe talk on TeamSpeak ii the Comms aren't working too well (we'll see) and have some fun.

This is still a massive game and in it's state maybe we'll have to be the fleshing out or the furniture in the meantime.

I applaud you all!

I second that wholeheartedly! Even when people have disagreed, especially about the extremely inflammatory no-offline-mode subject, they have been polite and understanding of other's views. Most unlike what could be said on the main forum.

Hat's off to us all. too. Although taking my hat off to myself would be a little odd. :-)

Cheers Neillm.

The negativity on the main Forum seems to be infectious, at least to me anyway. I think maybe the antidote could be optimism in the face of pessimism. And seriously, there are enough of us here to make that work, I feel.

There are enough Members of this group and Forum users here to make the game the one we want to play even in its current state if we stick together.

Dunno, just trying.

until recently the main ED forums have been very good compared to most others i've been involved with, since the last newsletter, not so much :(

hopefully this place will retain a bit of sanity and the FD forums will calm down a bit by about February.

about the offline issue, am i the only one to see the irony of complaining there is no offline mode in an online forum?

It's been a gradual decline as the game got nearer to release on the main forum I find. Such is the way of these things and its nice that we have this group of intelligent, respectful people in which to discuss such things without it becoming a massive flame war between two conflicting views.

I don't include myself in that group by the way. I am thick and I hate everyone.. but still.. it's nice to see others raising the bar for me. Restores my faith in human nature. :D

With 820 members (not sure how many post) I hope that the character of this group doesn't change.

But I'm sure that it will - as with all large groups.
