Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

So Been trying to mine on my new Anaconda. I tried it way back in the day before limpets and before power play and it sucked. Now i've heard it's a viable option to get materials, but the limpets seem to expire after just picking up one item, even though they are supposed to have 900 seconds flight time. Is this how it's supposed to be? Or am I doing something wrong with the limpet collectors?

Sounds like you're allowing asteroids to get in between you and the limpet.

Try picking on asteroids that are not spinning or at least pick a point that has the least movement.
Also picking a low point that results in the fragments heading below the belly of your ship, makes for fast collections with the limpets.

When you release the limpets do not target anything, except the prospector limpet if you have one. Otherwise, the limpets will collect the selected item and self destruct.

Don't target the fragment, just let them do their stuff, if you target the fragment the limpet will only collect that one thing and then expire.

Either keep the prospector targeted, or target nothing.

Alright so just to be sure before i head back out to the asteroid field, do I need prospector limpets to make this work?

You don't need them, but they'll tell what's in the 'roid, and I believe they increase the number of fragments you get each time. Just remember it's one prospector per asteroid

Went ahead and grabbed the prospector limpets for good measure, (really enjoying mining btw) and was wondering if there was a way to make my current prospector self destruct so that I can deploy a new one, or if I simply have to let it expire.

Just deploy a new one, the old one will self-destruct
