Shiny New Anaconda!

Good people of Mobius! I have finally purchased my first Anaconda! I want to share this glorious news with you all so that you may share in my joy! :D.

...... Now I just need to know how to outfit the thing. I need it to be deadly in combat, capable of trading, and decent at exploration. Any advice? Also turrets.... I set mine to fire at will but when I angered a pirate they refused to return fire. Made sure they were inded set to fire at will and they were most certainly NOT shooting at my target, even after flying around them for a bit for different angles. Any knowledge on how turrets are currently working would make very grateful.

I always set turrets to fire at target only. I find it better to melt one target at a time than flick the ears of several at once. I put the medium and small hardpoints as turrets, and the large as gimballed, thinking things would be sneaking up behind me.

Honestly, I'm considering going fully gimballed, since I tend to be able to keep my targets in front of me anyway. (I run all pulse lasers. May consider moving some to burst.) May be worth noting that the only combat my anaconda has seen is with pirates, not res or CZ, so it may be more likely that you'll have targets getting behind you there, and want turrets.

Congrats.
Now the conda can do all these things.
But not really all at once.

A decent trade fit conda can easily deal with regular interdictors but I wouldn't take it into a cz or even a res site for that matter.

now a trade fit and a exploration fit is quite close. Pretty much drop a few cargo bins for scanners and off into the yonder.
Proper combat on the other requires a bit more.
Large power plant. Bigger shields and at least a power distributor are a few of the things to swap out. And it will most likely cost twice as much if not more than
the trade fit.
It would be often easier and quicker, not to mention cheaper to use a vulture for combat duties.

Here's a trade fit I setup a while back, suprisingly cheap and will net cash quick if you have a good route.

Even though the cutter and t9 has more cargo space the anaconda's added jump range more than makes up for it in my opinion.

As for turrets yeah. Fire at will is pretty pointless and requires enemies going red on you and that seems rather bugged atm.
Since turrets also keep firing until you either retract them or better swap yet switch firing groups. Having a group without turrets is a good idea, that way you can switch groups and silence your guns to recharge wep energy etc .
You might swap one or two of the turrets for gimballed (I suggest the two on top) to facilitate this and increase dps.

Yeah I think I need to add some gimbals to atleast tag my enemies. Also while I've played Elite for over a year I'm not familiar with some of the terms the community uses. You said I should avoid CZ and Res sites, what do you mean by those?

Combat Zone and RESource extraction site. The latter being where pirates harass miners, and bounty hunters kill pirates.

CZ= Conflict zone.
Basically a two sided free for all, the npc's here have better armor than most and take more dps to take down. And often you can suddenly find yourself engaged by multiple foes.

Res= resource extraction site.
Main source for bounty hunting.

Ah gotcha, gotcha. I more or less lived in a hazardous when i was flying my decked Fed Assault Ship, but I'm a little scared to go there until i get more used to flying this baby to bring it there just yet. Thanks for he advice though everyone, I'll be putting it to good use today.

Ha! Me as well! Just bought it! Good Friday Night paint job :D
That's the layout for starters. I will have to upgrade the PP until I can really fly it, and then there's the jump range issue. Not bad but since it is a Rattaconda, it should be optimized. http://coriolis.io/outfit/anaconda/06A7 ... ratRat%20I

Well, now fetching my Vulture in the Hauler taxi to get in some cash again.
And yes, I stored the hull of Bloody Mess (decommissioned for the time being). It was too hard to sell it :)

Ah, and a glass of fine Whisky to celebrate the day of course, not to be forgotten!

Just a suggestion, but the B rated shield Gen is the heaviest of the lot, you only loose about 90Mj of shields going down to the 5a and save 45 ton in weight.

Just thinking out loud.

Congratulations and welcome to the Conda club ^_^

I liked the Conda so much I ended up buying a second one, rather than going for a corvette/cutter sidegrade

But an all round build that can be used for trading/light combat is here:

http://bit.ly/1negK6p

For heavier combat just throw in a few more SCBs/HRPs and may be an AFM for in flight repairs and it can handle itself in a RES or even a CZif you are careful

Turrets can work well (e.g. all burst lasers), but best keep them on Target Only in my experience.
