Not because of the comment but because having FDev explain anything about details is liked pulling teeth. Over a year and we finally have something to tell us a little about the background sim and how it works.
Look at all the investigation that has gone on to find out the real figures for weapons, shields, SCB, hull strength etc etc. This is the short of stuff the game should be giving, not mystic damage factor numbers that actually mean nothing.
I don't get why FDev feel they have to hide all this. Take the wave scanner, in the real world it would have come with a manual explaining what the different different returns to common items, just liked that site does.
What I would like also is for the scanner to be able to identify what substances are in the rock before I blow out up. Also trying to find some of the rarer materials is just pot luck as you have no idea what is going to be spawned. What I would like is for the detailed surface scanner to be able from orbit point out areas of the planet where you are likely to find a given material. That way you can at least set down somewhere knowing that you are likely to find something you want.
