I suppose this means Frontier know where the problem originates. I think I'll plod along and just wait for an update to fix this as I don't want to start messing around. (I may look first though and see if it's do-able for me though)

Thanks for the heads up all the same :)

How do you find your framerate in Elite (thought that there was no console access)?

Press Ctrl+F and it will be displayed above the version number.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try. Interesting to note they moved where the install folder is for Beta 3 from...

C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\

To...

C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\

I'm guessing they did that to remove the space in the name, I think some old versions of Windows would have problems with that on occasion. Don't think it would be a problem since Windows XP, but eh...

I still wish they'd use Program Files rather than AppData.

They don't use Program Files as Windows 7 doesn't like software writing back to it, it's all to do with Virtual Folders and so on. A programmer did explain it to me once but I think i was drunk :P

This is true, it's also why most programs use Program Files for the executable and AppData for settings and the like. That's actually considered to be the proper way to do it. Some security software will prevent programs from running in the User Folder (Which includes AppData) as this is how programs like Cryptolocker take advantage of lax security on consumer Windows systems (A properly set up Business Windows machine on a domain will have that turned off).

I always simply saw it as a way to stop numpties fiddling with it and then wasting support time after they've broken it. ;)

There is nothing worse than getting a PEBKAC support call. ;)
