Vulture on a budget

I know I should probably wait until I have all the cash to A rate all the components but I was wondering what you guys thought of this spec on a Vulture, whether there is any point of even trying this or if I should stick with the mostly A rated DBS. The plan is to obviously A rate all the items on it as I get more money.

I would drop life support and sensors to D rating, saves on power and doesn't really do to much.

Although we might have a slight reason for getting better life support now with the power plant changes we will see soon.

The basic scanner is just wasted space, better getting another cargo slot or what not.
Point defence is also pretty pointless, hardly any npc's use them and they for sqaut against shields, I recommend chaff.

My personal choice for vulture is dual large pulses, but again things are changing today, hear some rumors they are tweaking pulse lasers ability to penetrate armor.

If you are going to use this for interdicting and say merit hunting , I would just suggest getting a Diamondback scout instead, much much better at traveling and considerably cheaper and will still annihilate merit targets.

You can't A-rate a Vulture anyway - the Vulture is a fantastic ship (probably my favourite ship in the game) but it has one major flaw, it really struggles with power, not only with outfitting but also the distributor can't keep up with power hungry weapons. it really can't run Beams, from a full capacitor and running 4 pips to weapons you get 1-2 seconds and that's it. Even with your size 3 slots downgraded to run class 2 beams, it's not gonna work.

This is what I fly and it's basically PvE cheat mode.

But you don't have 16m to spend - here's your build tweaked and staying in the 9m range.

Cheers guys, and thanks Zadkiel for tweaking my build!

Aren't the Sensors going to be a problem being in the red zone of power? I thought I want those to be on during fighting?

Oh, hadn't noticed you'd set those to P2, I was only looking at P1 power. Drop the sensors to E and the Shield Booster to B and then P2 also fits into 100%

Is this better? Moved Sensors to P1 and Boosters downgraded to B

Is my Life Support is in the red does that mean my guy can't breathe? :P

Something to keep in Mind with 1.4:

If some NPC or Player Shoots your Power Plant down to 0%, there is a small chance you will explode. If not, your Power Plant is reduced to 40% output. If your P1 Modules are taking More than 40% of your power, you will be dead in space. Put What you need to GTFO of there on P1 and keep it Under 40%.

If that means you loose Power Dictributor, shields and only have Thrusters Life Support and FSD, then do it. Better to limp out than die.

Very good point Loriath! That means I need to rethink my priority strategy.

Is there a guide somewhere that says what each component is responsible for and what happens if its offline?

EDIT: Applied the changes as per Loriath's post and I think this can work: http://coriolis.io/outfit/vulture/04B5C ... n=Agressor

I also swapped out one of the Chaff Launchers for Point Defence.

Looks good, but the Chaff is better than Point Defence in my opinion. Missiles have been nerfed for a long time and I ignore them.

Also remember, you can't get a docking request if your Sensors are offline, so you may have to switch off the FSD to allow them to power up if you are really beat up bad.
