Module power management and cargo hatch

Hello all,

Maybe this has been asked before but I looked through the forums (both here and at Frontier) and I couldn't find a definitive answer.... Here goes:

Sometimes I run into power management issues (just like the rest of you) and prioritize my modules accordingly. One of the first modules that get's bumped to last place (5) is the cargo hatch. Does any one know what this does exactly? What I'm trying to find out is whether disabling the cargo hatch will cause spontaneous 'jettisoning' of cargo or does it just mean you cannot scoop any cargo while the module is off?

I've only run the cargo hatch off in PvE build with no cargo in my holds so I wouldn't know what would happen if I were to fly (let's say) my type-7 with powered down cargo hatch while my cargo is full of precious goods

Hope someone can shed some light on this for me!

It would only matter if you want to eject cargo or scoop cargo.

The hatch won't flap around in space, dropping cargo as you go, but that could have been fun

Also, with the hatch disabled, if you are rammed with cargo onboard, it can and will fall out. Not all of it, and not all at once, but it can and does happen.
