Does anyone know if actions performed for community goals apply toward rank progressions?

I've been expecting my trader rank to move up for months and now I see I'm only at 57%, and it takes about 2 hours to move it 1%. I'm wondering if all the stuff I did for the CGs didn't count (like dealing with trader ships).

my trading rank did increase, when i was trading in one of the CGs.

any skill you use for a goal, be it combat, exploration or trading, counts just like it would normally. my exploration rank gained 9% when handing in stuff for the current exploration goal. i reached Deadly during a combat goal.

It's just strange how long it is taking. Trade ranks went very quickly. Even broker to entrepreneur only took a week or two. But I've been stuck there for months and it will take about another month to make tycoon. I suppose I'm not playing as much as I used to.

My Trade Ranks originally went very quickly, but have since slowed to a crawl. The requirements are exponential, I guess.

yes they are exponential. and the thing about trade ranks is they are very constant - you carry X tonnes of stuff, and your rank increases. it doesn't matter what stuff or how far you had to jump

compare it with combat, a whole lot of things influence your score - did you use a KWS? what ranks were your enemies? conflict zone enemies or regular enemies?

so trading is a lot more predictable, at least. it's easier to gauge how much longer to fill the second half of the progress bar if you've been watching the first half

As far as I know the Elite Trader rank requires 1 billion in profits : ( that's what the wiki says anyway. It's going to take me a loooooong time
