something seems wrong

Postby Avago-Earo » Thu Oct 02, 2014 10:37 pm

I'm having problems playing since I managed to get on solo mode just now.
Firstly I couldn't leave Azeban Orbital because Every destination within my jump range was obscured by the planet. I couldn't just supercruise around it.
So I thought I'd aim at another body, supercruise for a bit until I Bootis was no longer obscured. So on the left screen I see all the systems but I can't select them. I can move my hat switch to go down to system map or galaxy map and although there are a number of reachable places to the right I cannot select them as moving my hat to the right opens the next panel.
So I think right, I can't reach anything in jump distance from the G Map as they are obscured by a planet. I can't select anything nearby on the targets panel. I know I'll select something from the System Map, so I go to the S map and try clicking on something else but it doesn't select it as a destination.

Basically if I wait until tomorrow when the reachable systems are no longer obscured I still won't be able to lock on to a station unless I 'fly' about looking for it and select target ahead.

What am I doing wrong? I've gone to the tutorial but there I have the same problem. I must be missing something.

I think you should double check your bindings. Sounds like your "enter" binding is missing.

Edit: Rereading your post, I'm sure it must be a bindings issue.

Also, you do not need to target anything for entering supercruise, you can fly in it to any direction. You just must not be mass-locked, same as for jumps. It's the same key - if you are not having some star system in target, you will enter supercruise, otherwise you will jump to that system.

(That's the way I am flying around planets when needed, same as your case mentioned)

And remember to unlock your target if it is hidden, before attempting SC.

Apologies. My "Oooh, Betty, doggy's done a whoopsie in the garden"

It was to do with my bindings. Before, when in the panels I used left/right hat on my T-Flight HOTAS to move to the next panel as I didn't have to move left and right within a panel. In Beta 2 the navigation panel has two sides to it so I kept hopping over it when I moved left with the hat. I changed that to one of the analogue sticks on my PS3 controller and now it all works.

Then I went around doing a few missions and also got into a rather exciting dogfight.

Thanks for the replies though.

Mods (not Jimmy from Quadrophenia though) you may as well remove this as I don't think it's any use to anyone now.

Cheers Avago. Glad you got it sorted.

I think we'll leave this thread open for future reference, as others might experience binding issues.

Fly safe Commander. :)

Can I edit my 'doing something similar' line to what I actually meant?

"He says...having done something similar. :-)"

My bad, indeed.
