Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

So I am in the Mobius group in game but the problem is that when ever I Shift + W up to the message UI, there are no contacts, even though the tutorial video says that you should be able to see members of your group in that menu, no matter where they are in the galaxy. Am I doing something wrong?

The Contacts show only Locals who are in your system and that is on the Second tab. Also people from your Friends list that you have added or been added by will show with their names. Unknown locals are by ship Type. On the Scanner, Locals are hollow where NPC's are filled in.

On your Comms Panel you will see something like:

Local:
Viper
Clipper
Type 6

Friends Online
Loriath Main Menu
Rofltropter Private Group
Lucky SOB Solo Play

Until you target and scan the Locals, you will not have their name, or until the Message you directly. Then it will show Name instead of Ship Type.

Local means the instance where you are. If you are in SC in a System, only those in SC in that system and instance will show. If you are in normal space, same thing. They have to be there to be shown.

Friends will show if they are online and what they are doing. At the Main Menu, Private group (Usually means other group), or Solo. If it does not say, then they are in the same group as you.

Friends will show up as Green Markers on the Galaxy map as you move the camera around. To know who they are, make sure you are in the Information tab, then mouse over the Icon.

Don't forget to add your name to the In-game Friends thread and send friend requests to those that have already added their names to the list. You'll then be able to see all those people.

Being in the group doesn't automatically add people to your friends list, you need to do it manually unfortunately

That's correct. Can only see friends and those in your local instance.

I am indeed going in alphabetical order. Apart for maybe a few hiccups along the way, it is mostly in some respectable order.
