Kitting Out my Type 6 Transporter - HELP!

KK,
Well, I have just brought a Type 6 Transport which comes with 50T cargo space as default, but I want to get it up to 100T.
Thing is I am a bit confused of how to do this.
I am currently at Mars High and here is my ship as default:

Thing is, I don't really know what those numbers mean at the end of each compartment box.
I went into outfitting and there was only one cargo space available at a measly 2T. Is this because that's all this station has to offer and so I have to go to another, or is it that it's all that my ship can have?
I have this that Colin the Grey kindly sent me:

But that seems to suggest I kit my ship out with more than it can handle. For example, in Colin's information screenshot above it shows several cargo compartments with a capacity of 32, but my Type 6 seems to be saying that it can only have 16 in each.
Please can somebody explain to me what I need to do to upgrade my T6 to as high a cargo as is possible, without losing shields.
Thank you.

With the screen Colin gave you, you can put 32T cargo bays where the 16T are. Your going to have to find another place to refit the ship if they don't have those.

You usually can put double the amount in each compartment it gives you when you purchase the ship.

When kitting out your ship, don't forget to leave yourself enough cash for buying commodities for trade and enough for ship insurance. You can check insurance costs in the right-hand panel (if you haven't spotted it already).

Cargo Racks
Class - Size
1 - 2T
2 - 4T
3 - 8T
4 - 16T
5 - 32T
6 - 64T
7 - 128T

i didn't see this mentioned elsewhere here, apologies if i'm repeating...
another common trick to gain extra cargo space is to downgrade the shields by one class, e.g. remove the Class 3 one and put another large cargo bay there instead, and fit a Class 2 A shield into a Class 2 slot, and supplement it with shield boosters to bring its effectiveness back to reasonable levels
dunno if that technique is workable on a T6, but i used it on my Python, Clipper and Anaconda with success.

KK,
So I have managed to get my cargo space to 100T.
I am looking at upgrading various other bits, without compromising shields. I want strong shields.

I Just need another matter clarifying, please.
Here is my current fitting:

Now, on Colin's screenshot (above) the compartments are marked as "5E" or "4C" etc. For example, the Thruster Mounting in Colin's screenshot is labelled as "4D". What does the "D" mean? Is it class? MY appears to say "E4".
So, when kitting out my ship according to Colin's suggestions should I be looking for a Thruster Mounting in the station store of "4D"?
Sorry if I am not making myself clear.
My top speed is about 150 at h e moment but I believe I can get it up to 220. How do I do that? What do I need to buy?
Thank you.

To the best of my knowledge (someone can probably describe it better or correct me if I have got things a little off).
A -> E are rating
A = best of that module type in terms of power/performance and generally lighter then B,C,E - 1-5 (class) is also linked to performance but has to match the module slot, for example you couldn't put an A5 Power Plant in a class 4 slot
D = lightest module of that type, usually fitted on exploration vessels or traders who want max jump range.
To get towards the boost speed you want and to very nearly perma-boost out of trouble upgrade the power plant, thrusters and power distributor. I found on my T6 that in standard spec it had a tendency to overheat just entering Hyperspace or SC and the power distributor was the first thing I upgraded. If your trade route is short jumps I would leave upgrading the FSD till later, depends on your needs.
I ran my T6 with A rated power plant, thrusters, distributor, FSD and shields - got interdicted quite often but never lost more than a ring of shields while boosting away till the FSD cooldown had finished. Submit -> point anywhere -. boost boost boost -> SC
"Nub Gamer" on youtube has some good instructional videos on rating/class etc.

Hi TomoRosso
Vary many thanks for your helpful reply. I will look for an A rated Power plant and thrusters etc.
