Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

For those that have (and those that have since gone well beyond it!) picked one up for trade/rare runs, what's the optimal amount I should be aiming to have, first? THe mill to cover the ship purchase is a given, but what about after-market upgrading? Another million? Three or four?

In other words... do I need to do a few more weeks of work in my Cobra, yet? Haha.

I ran mine with the A4 FSD, which is 1.6mil. And then I put in D or slightly better than the E bits that I could find. Giving it 100 tonnes or space and a 20ly+ jumprange. Don't like not having a shield.

The price seems about right 3mil in total.

And don't forget with 100 tonnes, carrying high value cargo will also cost a bit to fill the holds.....

Ah! See, this is why I asked here, after already toying with it in the shipyard. I didn't think to add any point defense! lol.

Conclusion.... Aim for five or six million, first. Just to keep all your proverbial bases covered. RIght.

Yes sounds like a good idea. Should give you enough money to everything, and still have enough to fill the hold. Have fun, not the best handling ship out there but really good jump range with that A4 FSD, and a large fuel tank.

I refit my Cobra to play hauler for a while. No shields, no scoop, just all cargo holds. 60 tonnes, total. Was making some decent cash flow. May have to go back to that for a while, after a find some good routes to use. I switched out to be more multi-purpose and carried myself up into Alliance territory to mix things up. Heh. Will definitely be keeping the Cobra with this multi-purpose outfitting, after I finally do get the Type 6. Use it for nav beacon bounty hunting when the space trucking gets mind-numbing, if nothing else.

Used the type 6 in friendly territory for trade runs to upgrade the cobra.....

Use the upgraded Cobra for iffy high value trade runs....Missions and bounty hunting.....

Type 6 is holed up at the mo with all these bloody stupid interdictions....Fecking clippers and other big basts.....

This is exactly why I don't much mind waiting the extra time to finally pick one up. lol. Maybe all the, err ... goofy weirdness? Will get ironed out soon.

Seems we all doing the same sort of thing. I was running a fully kitted out Cobra with about 40 or so cargo capacity for doing missions and other things. And then the T6 for running rares. Just traded them both in for the Asp and hoping that can do both as a single ship. Gets a bit annoying having to travel 200 light years to change ships.
