What do you think the different powers should do different?

I think they should all get a room, screw it out, and elect a Space Pope.

I think it's time we have a pro sex trade power.
Bennfits will be whiskey and rubbers.

You asked a question that was completely open. without any clarification, and without any suggestion yourself, and you are surprised you got the answers you did?

New to the Internet? :)

Seriously though, when you say ED Powers, do you meant the Power Play Factions? Frontier Developments? Or something else? Give us some context as to what you were thinking when you posted the question.

Well, it was meant to be open. :)
But an example can be; dislike for the Empire for it's use of slaves.
Or; a dislike for Winters for her white hair? :)
Anything really.

Ok, how about actually have a consequence in game?

As it stands right now, if no one played PP, there is nothing that would happen to the game. And if everyone played Power Play, nothing would happen in the game.

The stories, the factions, the Powers, they are all non-players. There is no consequence. Unless FD decides, there will not be a war between the powers. ALD becoming Emperor has had Zero, zilch, nada of an effect on ANYTHING.

The BGS is just effected by OUR actions, and that is not quite working as intended. If everyone in the game decide to undermine all of Federation space, the Federation POWERS would disappear, but the Federation would still be there. If we undermined (I mean EVERY player) Federation space, Hudson and Winters would loose any clout, and FD would have to replace them with Archie and Jughead, or another couple of names that they pull out of their hat-of-names they keep in Sandros office.

It is sort of a Squirrel in the fact that doing stuff for them has zero effect and is just used to have something to point at. Oh sure if I pledge to a power I can be shot at with impunity by other powers. That is like saying, I pledged for Texas so if I go to Iowa, they can totally kill me. It doesn't make sense since Iowa and Texas are part of the same faction. And if I pledge for neither, its not like BOTH Texas and Iowa are going to try to kill me.

And if I pledge a defect, well, the NPC's will actively hunt me for a couple of days. Ooooo. I have a vacation planned and will be away for a week, good time to defect. When I come back, I can just fly away over here, or stay, doesn't matter. Power play has ZERO effect.

I choose not to play it, because they have nothing I need or want. And in fact, it makes the game smaller. Oh stupid me, I pledged for Alliance, so I can't really go anywhere else or I am hunted. Big deal. Resign, and you are free to go anywhere immediately and thanks for all the fish.

Until we have a real enemy, a real war, the only war you are going to see is on the forums between the Open/Solo-Group Players in that 45th incarnation of the same old same old.

Ok, so you don't like to Power Play. :)
Until recently, I was pledged to Winters.
But the grinding got to me.
To move packages to systems, was fair enough - but to only get a few every 30 minutes, became a real drag.
The millions I got was really nice to get, ofcourse, but it killed all fun for me.
Thus I stopped.
And with no more interest, I ended up quiting Winters on Saturday.

I would like to se a power that was "something else".
No slavery, legal drugs. :)

Loriath: all true and, sadly, obvious from the start to those who wanted to see.
But for the sake of your sanity, don't look too closely.
The treatment isn't always pleasant.

my problem with PP is that it isn't realtime. I mean people grind away for a faction but nothing happens until the 'totalling up' at the end of the cycle. Really when I take a system under a banner it should happen there and then not 3 days later. Also the characters are dead to me. They have no life, no personality. Ignoring the power-ups and income from being with PP (as they all have them) why would I want to align with Zachary Hudson over Aisling Duval?
