Let's find Bob

Postby crua9 » Sun Mar 03, 2019 12:06 am

So about 2 weeks ago I found my first Earth like world. In a joking manner, I named it Bob. After posting this on Reddit a number of people thought I was referencing Bob from Titan AE.

This got me thinking, I wonder if there is a Bob like world out there and I wonder if others will help me out with this. My goal is once this world is found, maybe ED devs can allow us to build a station (similar to what is happening at the center) but also have a ship station around the same planet as a call out for the ship in the movie.
NOTE: The Titan ship kinda looks like our star ports now. Here is a drawing of it https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca88777 ... pe-pre.jpg
The Valkyrie ship doesn't look like any of the ship stations in game. But it would be a nice call out for that.

Anyways, why am I not pushing hard for my first Earth like world to be officially known as Bob. The biggest reason, it is simply humans won't be able to live on the planet I found. Oxygen levels are way too low and the PSI is way too high (double the PSI means we will have bone problems). Plus, I would like for Bob to be extremely far away from any other station.

So what type of world would make a good Bob?

  • It can't be near any other station. I think something closer to Viatori Patuit is the way to go (on the top right when looking at the map from above) https://www.reddit.com/r/eliteexplorers ... d_regions/
  • Humans MUST be able to live on the planet. This means the atmosphere must be similar to ours. Same with temp.

    My planet: https://www.edsm.net/en/system/bodies/i ... +c5610+A+6
  • The planet MUST have only 1 moon. We already know the moon helps with the ocean, and it helps protect the planet. It turns out 2 moons the tides will double the force. Which means flooding and what not. So there needs to be 1 and only 1 moon.
You can see more info on what happens if we had 2 moons here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh6TyJnMmaY
  • It needs to be in a self-sustainable system. This means there should be asteroid fields nearby and/or planets with rings.
  • It shouldn't be a must, but it would be nice if we find a world with a orbital period of 365 days.
  • The rotational period should be close to ours. It doesn't have to be exact, but we have to keep in mind plant life. The world I found has a rotational period of 122.7 days. Which means practically all your plants will be dead. Plus it could run into problems with temp and life in general. (on 1 side planets and life will cook. On the other size they will freeze)
  • Size does matter. Assuming we find a number of planets that are livable, that are stable, that has 1 moon, and so on. We should pick the biggest which = more landmass/liveable places.

Please feel free to list other things that should be looked at.
