You know how there was all that talk about the ship's computer saying "friendship drive?"

Well, I changed the ship's voice to Victor. I've been hearing it as "Frameships Drive" and now can't convince my ears to get it right.

Strange....

Human hearing and the brain that interprets it is a funny thing and contrary to some audiophiles, those who tend to pay $3000 for two feet of wire, not the most accurate. In fact it is the sense most coloured from past experiences or expectations, but coupled with the least reliable memory of itself. In short objective hearing simply does not exist.

We can hear two identical things under identical conditions and find utterly different opinions on both.

Just ask anyone who has ever been mistaken about a song lyric, after many years been told the actual lyrics.
They most likely will prefer their version.

I quite like the Friendship drive interpretation.
It contrasts nicely with the rest of the game.

Another classic example is at some of the engineer bases, for example at Farseer Inc: I know the automated message is "Please observe docking protocols", but that's not what I am hearing...

Hehe I was just visiting Farseer.. And I did hear that one wrong too. It was not docking protocols, but something that starts with an F.. But.. I did watch some Yamiks videos right before that so that might have had some effect on me :)

Those Locking protocols are funny.

I turned off 90% of ship messages years ago and don't miss them. They got just a tiny bit repetitive.

I need to turn off some too. When listening to Galnet news, all the countdowns etc. mute the news for that time. It would be less annoying if they would pause the news, but they only mute it so I will be missing some parts while the ship tells me numbers.

Your not alone - don't miss the professional traffic control system message nor the speeding.
