A newbie question

Postby Elijah Winter » Thu Mar 08, 2018 11:40 pm

I have never played in open or private before now and it struck me today....I have no idea how to know or recognize another player in the area with me. Do they appear differently in the hud, like I mean a different color? Am I notified somehow there is another player in my area? I only bounty hunt in RES so it's not like I would accidentally shoot at them....well unless I suppose a player had a bounty on them and wandered into the RES site I was hunting in.

But yeah I went off topic there....how do I know when another player is nearby?

A very valid question, no doubt.

human commanders will be displayed on your sensors with a hollow icon, and NPC's are solid, like this.....

My HUD colors are different, but here's an example with several human commander's on the screen....

Thanks! I would never have figured that out on my own. And that Commander's Welcome Pack page is amazing. Bookmarked it and studying it now.

I guess this is one of those games where you never really stop learning and discovering new things.

...again, thanks for the info and the reference page.

Glad to help :D

E-D sure as hell doesn't come with an instruction manual and the learning curve is steep.... VERY steep..... so anything we can do to help each other is beneficial.

Thanks for the info as well. New to “private group” and was wondering how do people communicate in game to group up...is everyone on Discord? Are members here based in any area, or major faction? Is there any large groups of people working towards a specific goal, like taking over systems to advance the Alliance or the Empire or the Federation or some specific leader? Essentially, hoe do get involved in the community in game?

99% of all members don't communicate at all.

The rest is split between discord and other solutions.
More concerted actions is often started com the board, and then moved over to more live arenas for communication.

Then again THIS IS NOT AN MMO.
Any attempt at influencing the bgs or other activity is just as easily done in solo as any other group.
