Just got a quick question; can turrets cover all around a Conda? Including directly behind the ship?

Depends on each hardpoints placement, they can't shoot through the ship naturally ;)
The two small underneath and on the back got decent coverage behind but rubbish coverage on the top. but then that's where the top class 3 guns track.

Forwards is probably where most of the guns can fire at once, at the other angles you will most likely loose coverage from one or the other.
But there isn't many complete blind spots either,
Personally I find turrets rather useless.
They take too much damage penalty and if fighting you might just as well keep your nose on target and use gimballed, conda is a bit slow for fixed guns though.

if you are trading and have no intention of fighting you will simply have no reason to deploy hardpoints at all in favour of triggering the fsd.

Well, I was thinking about how the carrier ships will be in 2018. I just had an image of a conda with fighter and cobra support in a RES. The conda would just slowly cruise through an asteroid field, beam turrets blazing all around. It'd be like something out of an anime. :D

well nobody knows, I personally suspect the carrier themselves to be utterly defenseless and your regular ships will do the fighting.

less of an actual ship, more mobile platform for other ships.

All of a sudden, I wish we had mobile suits in elite. Every time you attack go "It's a Gundam!"

As it is, I'll settle for deadly lasers.

I saw a YouTube video where a guy put all rapid fire pulse turrets on a conda and it actually worked pretty well though far from brilliantly.

Rapid fire pulses work great.

Runs a tad hot though, and eats through wep energy like nothing else.
