Question about 2 accounts, Oculus home and switching between accounts

Postby bailablestone12 » Fri Nov 24, 2017 12:53 pm

Hello,
I just bought a second copy of ED to use it as my exploration account. I use Oculus rift for my actual account and run it from Oculus home. My question to any cmdr with 2 accounts and using Oculus home is: How do you switch between them?

I have been searching online but haven't been able to find anything and any help is really appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance

I got so frustrated with Oculus home I now run elite through Steam VR instead ...
This might be a solution for you hope it helps.

all version of elite use the launcher.
the oculus client has a way of auto triggering play is all.

I don't bother with anything other than the straight launcher.

For oculus you can right-click in library and start in desktop mode, it will then start the launcher and you can log out to one then login to your other account.

If you have a rift and run ED through steamvr you are an idiot.
It will almost double the load since you are running not one but two runtimes, one layered on the other.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

It also really screws up Elite's detection of my joystick and throttle. I think the Steam overlay is "helpfully" combining them into a single input device, which means that it can't tell the difference between the axis and buttons on the stick vs the throttle.

They still haven't fixed this?
That was a known issue when I bought the vive nearly two years ago.
Didn't interfere with ed and my sticks, but I couldn't use the wands at all unless I disconnected the hotas.

Yeah, it was definitely an issue for me just last month. I resolved it by getting an Oculus activation key from FDev and running the game through Oculus Home directly (instead of layering in SteamVR).
