Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

So I was looking around last night and eventually managed to get back to my Freagle to take it out for a spin - lovely little ship. Anyway while I was looking I discovered I also have - I think it is a Viper MkIV.

I don't remember buying this ship. I have no idea why I would have, and afaik have never seen it let alone flown it. Is it another free ship for those of us who bought into ED at the beginning?

What is it good for mostly. I think the stats showed the jump wasn't a great deal better than a Sidewinders.

Its like a cross between a cobra mk3 and a viper mk3.
Capable of handling some cargo etc while being slightly more armoured.

It's for the person, I guess, who wants a cobra but also a ship to take into res.
But since mk4 is more expensive I would just buy the cobra and a viper mk3 which cost almost the same as A rating one viper mk4.
And the mk4 has some significant reduction in manouverabillity and a more obstructed canopy.
But like the mk3, a centered pilot seat and tight weapon mounts that I find somewhat crucial for fixed guns. Cobra need gimbal.

It is a free ship and I had it also but I do not remember why we got this

I dimly remember reading about a CG during Christmas 2015 where the global reward was the Viper Mk IV as free ship for all "new" players (no more than X hours in game).
