Efficient Beem Laser Question

Postby AJStoner » Sun Sep 03, 2017 11:04 am

Hey all. I have outfitted my Clipper with 4 level 2 efficient beem lasers. Along with a weapon based power distributer I can now empty my capasitor without overheating so my question is this: Is there any point in upgrading these to level 3 or beyond or have I gottn all I can, and would I possibily even make them less effective by going further? It says DPS is up--but no mention of base damage--so I'm wondering if that's just an estimate based on longer potential firing times.

If you upgrade to higher levels you will gain somewhat more damage per second (DPS), but also get significant drops in power usage, distributor draw, and heat. I'd say that if you're happy with the current G2 beams, then run with that for a while. If/when you want more performance from them, that'll be the time to engineer at a higher level.

Straight dps is fixed.

Damage Per Second. After all.
If it incorporates energy, reload etc it will be considered "Sustained dps".
As for upgrading.

The benefits start to somewhat taper after level 3. The main difference between LVL 3 and say 5 are significantly reduced penalties.
So yes. Going higher is worth it.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.
