G Beams - Nerf?

Postby *Al* » Mon Aug 14, 2017 6:32 pm

Interesting weekend at War.

Using the new Monstertech clamps made a great difference with my shoulder injuries (thanks Tor for suggesting). warthog throttle/clamp now weigh in at approx. 18kg.

NPC are much better (which is good) however my thought is that my G Beams are nerf'd. it takes as long to kill an Eagooool now as it did a viper.

Just me?

It's just you. ;)

I haven't noticed any changes in the performance of my gimballed efficient beams.

There are some variations though.
I can, say give a clipper the beans, and it melts in four seconds. Then another with the same amount from the same bean can, and it barely takes 10% damage.

Some just melt and some are resilient fuckers.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

Also. Never regretted going fixed for my main beams on the vette.

Especially now that the npc's in cz's not only deploy chaff but also go cold to break target lock and have the iff scrambling thing that disables gimballed tracking entirely for a fee seconds.

I just ignore all of it and keep blasting.
Also they do 25% more damage.

Man, I've noticed that happening a LOT lately (losing lock) and thought my HOTAS was going wonky or something. When did NPCs learn how to do that?

Depends mostly on rank. And heat sinks and their use isn't all that special.
The gimbal break is a weapon special effect being made available to npc's as well above a certain level. I think Master and up.
Most deadly and elite npc's these days have some specials going for them.

Could be that - I've been trying to pick out the NPCs that are Dangerous & above. I haven't been spending a lot of time in combat lately, but I honestly didn't remember seeing my target lock completely disappear like that before last week or so. I guess I need to get out more.
