Having a bad day flying my Beluga!

Postby Jeffers2112 » Mon Aug 07, 2017 5:48 pm

I've had my Beluga for a few weeks and I've been running OOM passenger missions quite profitably for a while.
I found it to be quite easy to fly and docking/undocking seemed straightforward enough. I didn't feel the need to fit a docking computer.
BUT! Today I've been bouncing around landing pads a few times and I've gotten stuck in the starport exit three times, just managing to wriggle free before being shot to pieces.
So what's wrong? I seem to have lost my piloting ability... maybe I got out of bed the wrong side....
I'm seriously thinking of going back to base and getting something a bit smaller to fly for a while, like my Python!

Sounds like a case of the yips or a term of my own, a brain tilt.

You need to get your brain rebooted.
Some suggest sunshine and a bike ride, or walking the dog.

I prefer and recommend a bottle of whisky and porn.
Then some more whisky.

My exp with those fkin hotels is that (NPCs) no regard for ...well anyone. you are flying to form, it must be Beluga training camp! If I had my way ALL (NPC) of them would be wanted (and I would take great delight, even time out to organise a hunt) for being general obnoxious ignorant Starport twats! This post is not in any way pointed at the OP or any other polite Mobius Cmdrs flying that excuse for a traffic jam

Beluga love, not in this direction......

Only half, that'll be the problem then :P :D

Oddly, I got my Vette stuck in the slot for the first time ever the other night, perhaps the Thargoids have put something in the water/tea/coffee/beer/whiskey :?

Sure can sympathise with you on that one. I had no problem flying in and out of the airlock even at speed in the Beluga, then one day I got stuck and only just escaped as you did. After that for a while, I don't know what it was, confidence, playing on one's mind, I don't know, but I kept getting stuck or would take a layer of shields off as I exited or entered. Came right again in the end :D

I'm thinking of reconfiguring my Python for passenger missions instead of using the Beluga.
It can look after itself a lot better and still fit enough cabins to take on plenty of passengers.
I'll keep the Beluga but I might strip her down and put her in storage for a while.

To be honest with you, about two weeks ago I got shut of the Beluga and went back to using an Orca. The Orca is fitted out with only business class cabins, and I find that there is only the very rare occasion I am left at a disadvantage by not having the Beluga. But the difference is I can fly in and out of the air lock at top speed so that I am never scanned if I don't want to be, and in the last two weeks have never had to resort to using a heat sink if I have secretive passengers. I have a little fun Dolphin too that I use to take a few posh people now and again :)

I know some people love their Beluga's and I tried very hard for a long time to love mine, just did not click.

Well I found stacking passenger missions as just a bad idea.

So I ditched the passenger liner entirely and put a first class cabin on a clipper.
