I have noticed as well that I am getting some lower FPS compared to 2.2 (actually it has been getting worse since 2.0, although the Beta's don't display the issues?)

I too am considering taking an axe to the friends list.
From everyone to have sent a request to about the <10 i actually play with.

I have been considering it too. Right now it is just a list of names ingame. And some green markers on the galaxy map.
I think some day I will do the cleanup, just don't know when.

I had been considering purging a lot of names from my friends list for the last month or two, and after the new bug was introduced that put me over the edge.

I started unfriending people yesterday morning. I'm keeping anyone that I've interacted with (to the best of my rusty old memory) and removing all of the others from the friends list that I've never talked to. So far I've probably removed 400-500 names, and still have a ways to go.

The good news is that it has certainly helped my frame rates, and it's a whole lot easier to find my actual friends in the friends list now.

I wish there was a faster way to remove names from the list.... it's taking forever.

So... Dropped everyone but A-Team members and 4-5 others. Low and Behold! NO FPS drops yet. Will keep trying and keep this up to date.

Sorry for all those I removed, but its how it has to be till they fix it, then I am doing it.

I don't have that many in my friend list but still got hit. I refuse to delete people as a bug workaround. For now I either don't play in Mobius or I just don't play Elite at all. I'm not gonna waste my time fighting bugs.

Does it actually notify you if you are removed from somebody's friends list? I don't remember ever getting a notice, and I can't believe nobody has ever cut me from their list.
