SC Acceleration Rates

Right guys I need help;
I need to know is Super Cruise acceleration rate is constant across all ship & FSD drives. If it does vary is it the ship or the FSD drive that varies it or both?
The reason for wanting to know is that IF it is constant I can work out profit per hour for trade routes & estimated times to travel between locations.
If it caries on Hull type but not FSD grade I can work it out for the main vessels (& if i go crazy all vessels).
If it varies on both hull type & FSD grade I will leave it until I can make a lookup table with drop down options to work it out, which will be a way down the line.

I think it will still vary from system to system because of all included masses (suns, planets, ...) and chosen flight path. You automatically slow down when you get closer to big masses ...

Aye i feared that, I do not want exact though. Just if two different ship travelled the same path would they reach it in equal time. If so then the time to station from star, assuming a linear path, would be constant within a certain margin of error. Thus giving approximate times to reach places. Naturally LY jump distances would be a big change but one step at a time

Well, this is assuming the orbits are circular rather than elliptical. But they're not. So depending on the system and the interval between two measurements, I'm afraid the distance between the star and the planet around which the station orbits could vary a lot.

Aye but we are getting away from the question;
If you take two ships, point them in the same direction at the same time in SC do they accelerate at the same rate?
Application of the information will be dealt with separately

I'm at work right now, but seems to me the only way to find this out is to have a race with two equal ships but different FSD drives. Same starting point and direction, and see who gets there first. I volunteer, but I wont be home and in game before 21 CET.
Edit: Errm.. I meant I'm at work now

Am thinking when I have a few hours spare to take three ships to Alpha Centuri or somewhere like that with a large distance from sun to station and fly them on timers. See how different the overall times are (the larger the total distance the less the variance of start point will matter).
Just an experiment that will take a while I guess
