Thats it what is going to be your ships name?

Mine -
Overture (anaconda)
Destiny (for my orca)
Arcadia (corvette)

My explorer Sidey I took out to Colonia is named Intrepid.
My Adder doesn't deserve a name.
My Viper MKIII is named Duck Duck Goose.
My Type 6 (miner) is named Be Mine.

If they ever expand the shipyard and outfitting in Colonia,
or if I go back the Bubble, my Vulture will be named Feel The Thrill.

Some of those may just be temporary.

I've only ever named one of my ships and that's my imperial eagle - donning a striking Black Friday paint job I called it "gimpy"

What are the limitations of the name? How long can it be, can there be characters like ä and ö and so on..
I watched ObsidianAnts video with one eye only, but I heard something about FD store, do I need to buy something to be able to name ships?

From I read somewhere it's up to 22 characters long. As for names, I already have all my ships named, not very original names I admit. They're all in my Inara profile.

EDIT: I checked ObsidianAnt's video, apparently you need to actually buy the nameplate from Frontier's store if you want it actually visible on your ship's exterior. Since they are not available yet I don't know if I'll bother, need to know a price first. Also, if they are reusable in all ships or we need one per. I have lots of them, and if that is the case I am not going to buy a plate 20 times. Let's be serious.

My Asp Explorer will be LRERV HAVHINGSTEN (Long Range Exploration and Rescue Vehicle)
My Python will be BCTS Cascadia (Bacon Cats Transportation Services)
If I ever get a Imperial Eagle or Courier outfitted for combat then it will be OOM Seax
My Anaconda will be LRETV Leviathan (Long Range Exploration and Trade Vessel)

Not sure on Clipper or Cutter when I get them I will have to think on their names.

My ship names (and numbers) will be named after the ship's I served on in the Royal Navy. My Corvette for instance will be HMS ALBION

All of mine will be prefixed with ATS for A-Team Ship

ATS SPLITTER - Corvette
ATS AMELIAS LEGACY - Cobra Mrk3
ATS DRAKES HIND - Asp Explorer
ATS BLUE BANANA - Python
ATS ÜBER - Black Adder
ATS SLIPPERY BASTARD - Imperial Courier

Ships I am not sure of the name yet, but I have some ideas like:
Anaconda, DBS, Imperial Courier

I have less ideas on she Ship ID's. I have to look up ship classes on Wikipedia to decide what the ID's will be. That limit is 6 characters and require a separate plate.
