"Pull up! Pull up!"

Postby Dave Sewell » Thu Feb 02, 2017 11:52 am

Iv'e watched 'aircrash investigations' a lot on the tv..and the warnings those pilots get when stuff is going wrong are plentiful.

Now..when I overheat, there's no missing that one..but why oh why when I am multitasking badly and mindlessly boosting towards the surface of a planet who's G I have not acknowleged, does my ship not scream at me to pull up..or about my 'sink rate'?

This may have been useful last night as I wrote off my DBX 2k out from the bubble. :-(

Can we have some more warnings from the onboard systems please Frontier? Audible ones..for like when the Mrs is bending your ear and you are trying to pretend like you are interested....thanks.

Yeah! that would suffice. lol. I can't believe I made such a stupid error..been playing for ages now, consider myself a decent pilot..and yet I mindlessly boosted down with fatal results. Tried to get the nose up and boost away, but it wasn't happening. Not so worried about the data loss or the small cost to replace..more the distance i'd travelled. :-( some kind of LOUD proximity warning would be nice.

Isn't there a "slow down" warning?

That isn't a warning, it's just telling you that the gravity of something nearby is slowing you down.

Are you talking about the slow down warning that is on screen while you are flying near a planetary dock, which also has that same speed limit as space stations? That warning goes away when you slow down below the speed limit of 100. Nothing to do with gravity as far as I know.
I play on PC, in the Mobius PVE Eurasia group.

There is the "slow down" in supercruise.

It occurs when you enter proximity to a gravity object, or a Nav locked target, the computer is probably simulating the effect, and the ship is cruising at a speed greater than what the "local area" would otherwise allow.
This reduces the drives ability to affect velocity, amongst other things, so you end up shooting past your destination.

It makes more sense to me at least if I consider as a notice that I am being slowed down, rather than a command to slow down.

Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

Yeah, there's no 'in atmosphere' warning that you are dropping too fast..definately need one for those 'real world interrupts' where attention is not where it should be.
