Hello,
Anyone know if Collect Data passenger missions contribute to explorer rank?
I know the sight seeing one does.

I think the 'collect data' PAX missions are still considered to be sight seeing missions since it's a round trip. If that's the case, it would give you exploration rank gains. The "drop me off here" one-way passenger missions gain you trade rank progression.

Just a quick FYI for those Needy passenger missions:
If you never look at the mission updates, they don't come into effect and will not change the mission. They only update the mission when you open them. Just ignore them and continue on the original mission.

It means I have a vast pool of knowledge. Just because you don't do something does not mean you should ignore it. I could never build a car engine but I understand how it works.

The needy passenger missions aren't so bad, last night a passenger gave me 350K for picking up 900cr worth of domestic appliances, it was a one system detour
I didn't like to ask what they needed all those vacuum cleaners for

I've been doing a lot of PAX missions lately, and just ignore the requests for goodies. Screw 'em. They're lucky to be on my ship in the first place.
Although.... I am happy to take the cash and exploration rank for taking them to see a couple of sights.
