Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Hello,

I just took a kill skimmer mission. Went to the settlement and no skimmers. Logged out and into Solo and still no skimmers. It's a low population, medium security installation.
Is there any way to get the skimmers to spawn? This is the second time this has happened to me in a row and I really dread taking skimmer missions. But needed to rank up with the faction.
Feel like abandoning this mission again but not liking the rep hit.

Help please.

Probably no skimmers on the base, or at least not until you trigger a big enough alert.

I would instead just go looking for poi's, they usually spawn 2-6 skimmers each and they are mostly wanted as well.
And all skimmers in the area would be mission targets.


Could iterate.
Best way to find poi's is to fly at 2km with sensors at max range.
When a poi circle hits the first inner ring, zoom sensors in by one notch.
Once the circle engulf the inner sensor ring proceed to dive down at 30 degrees.
Before you hit 1km from the ground you should be able to visually see whatever poi, be it cans or structure. If you don't see it from the air, just land you should be quite close.

No idea how people stack skimmer missions when they seemed to be bugged like this.

I believe it's quite circumstantial, some systems happen to have the right assortment of factions, BGS situations so all the factions seem to have it out for a particular faction that has only one settlement.

The area I'm hitting (low security) will fire defences at about 1.5km, skimmers don't appear till the trespass warning has been notified which is usually about 500m from the base

To be honest if you are on your own do not kill the skimmers at the bases, it is easy to be overrun with all the defenses. As others have said go to a nearby POI and kill them there.

I generally go to the settlement, see if I am likely to be killed, then head back up to 2km+ and find a POI as tie suggested. Generally those skimmers are MUCH easier to kill!

This happened to me when the xpansion first came out and I it put me off skimmer missions or planetary stuff at all for months lol.

I discovered them at all the pois much later and will attempt some again.

Does the base have a generator ? Blow that up and the skimmers will spawn
