Missing Planets / Exploration

Can you help a guy out with his sanity, please?
I've just been to 2 systems that I haven't been to before and I don't have any sort of discovery scanner on-board (to make room for more cargo). I cannot see ANY planets at all (see screenshot below). Is this new for 2.2 because although they were "unexplored" before, I'm sure I could see at least the planets and not just blank spaces.

If this is correct and how its going to work in future, it's a bit silly because you cannot see planetary bases and *must* carry a scanner with you at all times, so should therefore be a core module.

Some systems don't have planets. That would be my guess.

You have to scan the unexplored system to see the planets on the system map or to buy the data if possible.

If you are in the bubble and dont have a scanner onboard and the system has a population there should be a Nav Beacon or Compromised Nav Beacon in the system head for that and scan it just like selecting a ship and it will auto populate the system map for you

I'll give that a go, thanks.

I've never come across this before and I'm sure I've down without a scanner before so that's why I thought it might be a new thing
