You only need 5m at somewhere like Avik to open up Qwent. You could drop the rest in other places for fast track reputation. Then exit save, lo back in and board hop until you trigger the invitation mission. (What I had to do)

I'd say he was a pain the arse because he does nothing that can't already be done by easier to unlock engineers (Tani and Cheung) and is just a stumbling block to get to the G5 drive mods from Palin.

To open Mardo, you need the Sirius Permit. Thats Rep. Then there is Liz Ryder, need to be Friendly with a Group. Yak Nemo, need to be Friendly with another Group. Hera Tani needs Outsider Rank with Empire. Ram Tah, Surveyor or Higher. Bris Decker, Friendly with Feds. These are all Rep or Exploration ranked. Hence My Pain in the Arse Comment which by Default is applied to ALL ENGINEERS.

Quent is very easy and fast to unlock.. not like a certain... Lorie Jameson.

You need Dangerous rank in combat AND Elite status to unlock Shinrarta. So if, like me, your Elite is not in combat, she's locked behind a few years worth of grind.

The fast kw scanner is quite nice.
Just saying.
Granted it nearly halves the range which is a ball ache so not really worth on anything but a class a scanner.
which means you need to have the power to spare for it.

it's useful if you have use for a KWS. Personally i never bothered to get one after i first tried it, and it will probably be nerfed in 3.0 anyway.
